No Justice, No Peace: Activist’s targeted in London!
That about describes it perfectly. The political targeting of London activist’s is on the rise.
Yesterday, at approximately 12 noon, police rushed into Mike Roy, and Bailey Lamon’s apartment, to execute a warrant in relation to an investigation of mischief. Police violently broke in, and arrested Bailey at the scene, while confiscating all of their camera’s, computers, and other hardware. Dan Beaudoin was initially released, but was arrested when Mike and him showed up a little while later. Dan has been charged with 1 count of possession of a controlled substance. Mike and Bailey have each been charged with one count of Mischief under 5000$ and one count of possession of a controlled substance each.
Bailey, Mike, and Dan.
So, what I wonder, is what possessed the police to confiscate all of their computers and hardware, over “just another brick in the wall.” The more I think about this, the more it looks like political targeting. You know you’re doing something right, when the police feel it’s necessary to violently break into someones apartment, and steal all their shit, over a brick in the most ugly, disgusting, and tagged up alleyway in London. I’m going to share something that my brother wrote with you all. Seems fitting in this case.
“Though the graffiti only covers a few bricks on the Talbot Street building, police decided to pursue it as they would any act of mischief, said London Police Const. Ken Steeves.”
ummmmm…. what the fuck… i’ve been to london. i feel like i havent seen a single building there NOT covered in graffiti… oh wait, this one was legible, i get it…..”
I found out about all this at 10 pm last night. Working with a few others, we managed to get about 40 people to show up at the courthouse today. Some came and went, but we all shared in our worry for our friends. After countless recess’(it’s like public school again in the courthouse. It’s because you’re all children of the state eh…) Mike and Bailey were brought to the prisoners box, after having spent the previous 26 hours or so in various cells. Considering they’d had little to eat, and little sleep, they looked good, and happy that they were about to be released.
They were released on their own recognizance, and with conditions, not to use drugs, or possess markers or paint. But here’s where it gets interesting. Fairly standard fare for the police though, lots and lots of similar stories came out of the G20 in Toronto Debacle too. The police told Mike and Bailey, that if they signed a piece of paper, with conditions not to associate with eachother, not to use a computer, not to participate in activism, and just all around stupid shite, that they could be released right now. Neither Mike or Bailey signed this bullshit. Both of them are well aware of the kind of stunts cops like to pull in situations like this. Just remember, DON’T TALK TO COPS! DON’T TRUST THEM EITHER! That whole situation, was a poorly veiled attempt at silencing a part of the activist community in London. FUCK THAT!
Many of you are aware that I am also up on charges. Mind you, minor by law offences, but none the less, also appears to be political targeting. For saying fuck to a cop. So just remember, it doesn’t matter if you’re writing on a brick, or speaking to a cop, they will over react. Don’t you just love our fascist police force. They have no problem with racist’s marching on the streets, but someone trying to make something a little bit nicer, is a crime.
Solidarity Bailey, Dan, and Mike!! FTP! ACAB!!
Also, A BIG HUGE FUCKING THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO CAME OUT TODAY, AND ALL THOSE WHO HELPED SPREAD THE WORD! Solidarity sisters and brothers.
[EDIT] No, their equipment has not been returned. Computers, camera’s, etc, still remain in possession of the thieves.
